UAM Iztapalapa · Building S
Architectural precast components for Building S at UAM Iztapalapa, produced from a mobile plant in San Juan del Río, Querétaro.

The new Building S at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana’s Iztapalapa campus is part of the reconstruction of its academic infrastructure. Official UAM documentation identifies laboratory and teaching spaces. MODECO’s photographs document the production of architectural components and their incorporation into the facade.
The envelope is composed of sand-colored horizontal bands, continuous openings and vertical terminations. Component panelization follows this composition, with specially shaped pieces addressing junctions and changes in direction.
To serve this Mexico City project, MODECO relocated to San Juan del Río, Querétaro, the mobile plant previously used for projects in Punta de Mita and for the hospital in La Paz, Baja California Sur. This experience enabled production to be organized for the project from another region of Mexico.
The photographic record follows fabrication, surface finishing, handling and storage, hoisting and placement on site. Overall views show the installed facade at different stages of building progress.
